Latinas In Nursing is inviting nurses, health care professionals, students and community members from across the country to take part in its 2026 National Book Club, a free virtual gathering designed to celebrate stories, representation and leadership in nursing.

The book club will meet every Wednesday in May 2026 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Eastern time. The event is virtual, free to attend and open to everyone. No pre-reading is required.

The national gathering continues the mission behind Latinas In Nursing, a platform created to amplify the stories of Latina, Latino, Hispanic and underrepresented nurses whose voices have too often been missing from the larger conversation about health care leadership. Founder Dra. Tina Loarte-Rodríguez writes that the project began after she spent much of her nursing career being “the only Latina in the room” and recognized that cultural and linguistic gaps in health care are not just uncomfortable — they can affect patient safety.

What began as a book has grown into a movement centered on visibility, support and opportunity. Latinas In Nursing describes its work as a platform, pipeline and promise to help Latina|e|o|x and Hispanic nurses be seen, supported and positioned to lead in rooms where decisions about people are made.

The 2026 National Book Club offers participants a chance to connect through storytelling, reflection and shared experience. For nurses who have ever felt unseen, for students looking for inspiration, and for community members who want to better understand the people shaping health care, the event creates space for conversation and connection.

Dra. Loarte-Rodríguez, an Afro-Latina Boricua from the Bronx, is a nurse executive and health equity leader who serves as executive director of the Connecticut Center for Nursing Workforce. Her work focuses on nursing workforce development, leadership, equity and building systems that improve health outcomes across communities.

The 2026 National Book Club will be held virtually every Wednesday in May from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Eastern time.
