New Haven artist to be featured Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — New Haven recording artist Tone Eyeful has been named The Vibe Artist of the Month, earning a featured spotlight on The Vibe every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Known for blending hip-hop, R&B, melody and emotion, Tone Eyeful has built a name for himself as an artist who values authenticity, versatility and growth. During a recent conversation with The Vibe, Tone spoke openly about his creative process, the realities of the music industry and the importance of staying true to himself while continuing to evolve as an artist.

“I make hip-hop and R&B music,” Tone said. “I dabble in a little bit of dance because I like house and dance music.”

That willingness to move across sounds has helped define Tone Eyeful’s catalog. Publicly known as Antonio Ifill, Tone has been connected to New Haven’s music scene for more than a decade. Over the years, he has created music that reflects different stages of his life, emotions and artistic growth, with projects ranging from socially reflective records to more personal and relationship-driven material.

“I make music solely off of feeling, off vibes,” he said. “I make music honestly for myself. And that’s how I started.”

That honesty is one of the reasons Tone Eyeful stands out. Rather than staying confined to one style, he has embraced experimentation, incorporating elements of rap, melody, dance and Afro-influenced sounds into his work. He said each project is meant to offer something different while still remaining relatable.

“Each project I really try to deliver something different that is relatable in a different way and digestible to a different audience,” he said.

As The Vibe Artist of the Month, listeners will hear Tone Eyeful’s music in regular rotation, including the featured songs “Freinemies” and “Toxic Love.” Both records help showcase the emotional and creative range that has become a signature part of his artistry.

Tone said his music starts with whatever he feels in the moment. Sometimes it begins with a beat, a melody or a vibe that leads him into writing and recording. That process has helped him stay productive and creative through the ups and downs of the independent music grind.

“I put on a beat,” he said. “If this beat talks to me a little bit and I can come up with some type of melodic sound or mumble, then eventually I’ll record it on a voice memo, write down words to it and lay it from there.”

His story is also one of persistence. After years in the business, Tone Eyeful understands that making music is only part of the challenge. Marketing, content creation, visibility and audience engagement have become essential parts of being an independent artist.

Despite those challenges, Tone remains committed to authenticity. He said being genuine is the key to connecting with listeners.

“I just be myself, authentically,” he said. “I think they find ways to relate to me.”

That authenticity, combined with his strong New Haven roots and evolving sound, made Tone Eyeful a natural choice for The Vibe Artist of the Month.

Listeners can catch Tone Eyeful featured on The Vibe every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Be sure to listen for “Freinemies” and “Toxic Love” and stay locked in as The Vibe continues to spotlight artists making an impact in the city and beyond.
